More Christmas pics..

Christmas Review

The Schoen family had an amazing Christmas. Filled with so much Joy and family. It couldnt have been a better holiday.
The Saturday before Christmas we celebrated with Dustins family(my adopted family, since no one lives in Texas from my family) Everyone met at our house and we had turkey and the fixins. The guys then proceeded to pass out on the floor while everyone else opened presents.
This was the first year that Jakob really got it. He was so excited and for the past month has been waking up in the mornings asking if it was Christmas yet. Here is what our Christmas tree looked like with every ones presents under it.
I dont have any pictures of anyone actually opening these presents because it was total chaos. But tons of fun!! Jakob got the most gorgeous stuff. He got a baseball lamp from Meme, a Mitt clock with his name on it from meme, a wood carving of his name with a baseball on it from meme and the piece De resistance(in french accent) A quilt that meme made. It is baseball squares but, there are also squares with pictures of him doing various baseball themed things or with his family. Now I am not an emotional person, but I must admit when I saw this I did get teary eyed. It is just so beautiful and well done. And something we can keep forever. Its amazing. I dont have any pics of that either but I will tomorrow I promise. Its to awesome not to share with the blogging world.
Katharine got lots of goodies as well. Baby dolls, play food and play pots and pans to go with her kitchen. Lots of puzzles and ect.
It was a terrific day as it always is when you get to spend it with people you love.
Saturday night we just hung out. Meme and Papaw spent the night so we just chatted the night with them. We skipped church on Sunday to hang with meme and papaw.
Monday was Christmas eve and we just spent some family time at home. This was the first time Dustin has ever had Christmas eve off so we didnt waste a minute. We then got the kiddos all dressed for Christmas eve service at church.
Church was great. It was mostly music and the telling of the birth of Jesus. It was packed with people. You think that there are about 5k members spread between 3 services on any given Sunday. Take that number and put them into one service. Now I dont think there were that many people but there were atleast a couple thousand. And we left about 2/3 of the way through because Dustin couldnt handle any more of the annoying kid behind him kicking the pew and his moms cell phone ringing. And a wiggle worm 3 year old son who wouldnt stop talking. But it was time.
So after dropping Ashley back home we went back to the house and ate dinner and opened our one Christmas eve gift.
It was Christmas Jammies, I am sure they will catch on sometime in the near future that every Christmas eve their one gift to open is Jammies, but for now its so fun!!

After a quick bath we went into the front yard to sprinkle reindeer food (oatmeal) and then came in to check where Santa was on Norad. He was in Chili, So close so we set cookies and milk out and it was off to bed.
Jakob was so excited. It is so much fun when they are this age and get what the fuss is all about. He could barely stand it he was so excited.
Christmas morning Dustin and I woke up and fixed coffee and got the video camera ready. Jakob came down asking if Santa had come.. To his amazement when he came at the end of the stairs there were toys under the tree.
Katharine wasnt too into it, as expected. She is only 15 months. Next year wont be that different from this one but the year after next.. WOOHOO.
We had an awesome Christmas morning. I got new slippers and a bathrobe, and the Daughtry cd and Brandon Heath cd. Dustin got a new coffee maker for us as well. I could go through all the kids gifts...but it doesnt really matter, what matters is that we are super blessed and that we thank God for the ability to provide for our family and give them more than they need.
So I will leave you with the remaining pictures from Christmas day and then some misc pics that I just love. I hope everyone had a Blessed Christmas and that you remember that its not about the tree or the presents.. Its about Gods greatest gift, Jesus Christ and his birthday!

Parties and Shots

We had an awesome time this past weekend. As you know Staci and the family visited with us which was great fun. And then we celebrated Kieras(Kit Kats bff) First birthday. She looked so big and grown up. Kate was not in the greatest of moods due to the lack of a nap. But she participated some what and celebrated her BFFs accomplishment of making it to the big 1. They shared many stories and Kate gave her much advice on being 1 and the responsibility that comes with that. Happy birthday Kiera!!
Today was another fun filled day. We started off with an awesome bible study and pedicures. Then the kids and I came home ate lunch and headed off to see doctor Garza. Jakob was so excited. He loves Dr. Garza and is such a great little patient. Kate was about 3 visits behind on her shots since we were in Insurance Limbo. Jakob was only 1 visit behind. Jakob is a whopping 35lbs and is 39 1/2 inches tall. In the 75th Percentile. Doc said he would most likely be over 6ft according to the chart. Well we kinda figured that much since is daddy is 6'1 and all of his grandpa was 6'2 and his uncle Dunk is 6'3 not to mention cousin Adam and Ryan who are over 6'5. It was inevitable.
Jakob was thrilled to see Dr. Garza. He listened to everything Doc said. And he couldn't stop talking. Doc said that he spoke especially well for his age.
Next was Katharine. She was not as excited to see the Doc but she did what she needed to do. She weighs a 21.5 lbs and is 30" tall. In the 40th percentile for her. But her Head circumference is 18.5 inches and in the 75th percentile. Which is great, big head = Big brain ;)

Both kids got caught up on their shots. Jakob was so brave. He got one shot in the leg. Kate got 4 shots, 2 in one leg, 1 in the other and 1 in her arm. She was not a happy camper. But surprisingly she only cried for a minute.
So that was our day. I will put pics from Kieras party on a new post. Its easier that way.
Have a great night!!

MORE SHOPPING???

Staci, Ashley and the twins just left and I was proudly proclaiming that I was done with all my Christmas shopping and we still have 10 days till Christmas. In the past I would get most of my shopping done 2 or 3 days before the big day.
I excitedly brought her to my gift closet and showed her all that I had purchased for the kiddos. And I suddenly thought, Had I got enough? Do they need more? We finally have the means to give the kids a great Christmas(not like Kit Kat will remember) and I cant help but feeling that they deserve more?
I know that Christmas is not about the gifts so much as the thought and the celebration of Christs birth. But It was always a super big deal at my house growing up and I want to share that with my kids. But seriously what can you give kids that really do have it all? Maybe I am over reacting. Yeah I am sure of it. I just want to give them so much. I may have to make some last minute trips to Target and Walmart after all.

All I want for Christmas is......

A MAID!!!
I know I know, how selfish. But seriously. I know I dont have a valid excuse other than just pure dislike of house cleaning, But if you think about it I am actually being selfless...yeah thats it. Because if I werent cleaning house and doing laundry and dishes, ect. I could spend more time playing with Katharine, or helping Jakob with his writing and reading. Yeah so Really All the kids want for Christmas is a mommy that will spend more time with them.. awww...see now dont you just want to go out and get me a maid asap??

A night in Bethlehem..

I feel when it is time for me to post that I post the same thing over and over. I need to find a more orginal way to write the same thing. Do you know what I mean?
For Instance, the past few days have been super busy. But you know this already because I always post about how busy my days are... I wish I could spice it up though. Oh well, You must find something intersting if you still read this ;)

So Let me see.. This week has been so busy,(well it has) I cant even keep up with the days of the week. I think tonight is Thursday. So anyway, Tuesday Jakob had school as usual but after school Jenn came by to hang out with him and Kate while I made a run to Staci s to visit the twins and to go shopping. I ended up picking up an extra passenger. Ashley wanted to go shopping with me, She had gift cards from her birthday and they were burning a hole in her pocket. So we went to my favorite store: Target. And shopped to our hearts desire. Or atleast till I ran out of Money ;) I got gifts for my Niece Jordan and for both my kids. I still have lots of shopping left though. I have yet to purchase anything for the twins and Ashley, and then there is Dustins cousin Micah. What are 9 year old boys into these days?

We then came home relieved Jenn from her very gracious day of babysitting and when Dustin came home I returned Ashley to her rightful owners.

Wednesday I watched Kiera while her mom braved the bad weather and horrible traffic to get an MRI. Something else was done yesterday but I just cant remember.. old age really does effect memory.
On Thursday(thats today right?) Jakob had his Christmas party at school. The family was invited so we went. It was great fun and Jakob clung to my leg the whole time. As if to claim me as his property. Santa came and visited the class but Jakob had no interest and didnt want to sit on his lap.. or go near him. He knew that it couldnt possibly be Santa, because Santa is at the Mall and he has a big soft green chair he sits in.

After the Holiday party we came home . Later on today Jenn brought Kiera by to hang out and play while she tutored. I love when Kiera comes over to play because her and Kate just have a blast.

After D got home Jakob, Kiera and I headed out the door. I dropped Kiera off to her mom and Jakob and I took a trip to Bethlehem. I know what you are thinking, Finally she explains the title.

Our Church had the town of Bethlehem shops set up. The children were able to make wooden flutes, masiac boxes, Perfume and coins just like they did in the town where Jesus was born 2000 + years ago. And though Jakob did not quite get the concept. He had great fun.

I think I love our new church. I love that we have the resources to put these kind of things on for the children. Because to me, that is what is important in a church. And it is our future.

That is all the ramblings I have for today. I do want to leave you with this picture. I am proud of my beautiful twin neice and Nephew but I am really showing off the onsies that I made for them.. You can Ohh and aww over my creativity now :D

Catching up

Sometimes I get into these ruts that I have to pull myself out of. Its when life becomes routine and it losses its joy for a split second. But then I get a little pick me upper and things get better. This usually only happens once a year. This year it happened twice.. once while selling and purchasing a house all in a 3 week span and the second time was the last couple weeks. But today is a new day and I am feeling refreshed and ready to step back into my life.

This past weekend we went to Austin to visit with Dustins cousin Christopher and his wife Deanna and their son William.
Jakob and William play so well together it was so great to see. Even though they are a year and a half apart it seems not to bother them. They just run and play and do things that boys do.
We also went and visited Old St. Nick at the mall.

The wait in line wasnt bad at all and it went real quick I thought. That was until we got about 5 people away from Santa and Jakob decided he had to go pee RIGHT NOW!! So we hauled butt to Dillards(was right behind us) And asked the first person we saw that looked like they knew what they were doing, She directed us to the bathroom.. actually she said its in the back and pointed behind her. But luckily my skills of Mall department stores came to good use and we found it. We quickly in warp speed peed and I literally drug Jakob back to the line. And we had made it in perfect time. Oh and I was also Carrying Kate with me this whole time.. It was a great work out.

We got to see santa and as soon as the boy in front of us jumps off of Santas knee Jakob ran up to him and jumped right on. Sorry Santa no break between kids for you.

He was so excited. I put Kate on Santas lap and she just kinda stared at him for a bit, Then after realizing that this was not her mommy..she began to wail!!!

I love the picture though because it is priceless. So here it is for all to see.. My sweet boy who loves Santa, and my baby girl who Wants the heck out of there.. The Irony of it all is... Kate is wearing a shirt that says "I heart Santa" lol
